SEMESTER 2 CONCERT – WAR & PEACE

Come join us on Saturday, September 20th, at 6:30 pm in the Castle Street Lecture Theatre as we perform works of War & Peace under the batons of Emily Sterk and Maddy Parkins-Craig. Young Musician Award winner Callum Fotheringham will perform Hummel’s Introduction, Theme and Variations for Oboe, and the orchestra will also present the brand-new Wasteland Overture by 2025 Anthony Ritchie Composition Prize winner James Hurley. A varied and exciting evening of powerful orchestral works, a featured solo performance, and the experience of hearing a new work brought to life.
Works of peace: Remember Parihaka by Ritchie. Elgar’s Nimrod. Adagio from Spartacus by Khachaturian.
Works of war: Coriolan Overture by Beethoven, Mars by Holst, Lord of the Rings, Symphonic Suite by Shore
